The Clay Pigeon 26 Robin Way, Chelmsford, Essex CM2 8AS. The main website is .

The The Clay Pigeon American Bistro was reviewed by Ewan Parker on . A small bistro in an unusual location, serving a small but good quality selection of American-style food. I saw an advert for this place in this month's issue of The Edge magazine, so decided to give it a try. I've eaten at various places claiming to serve American food and most are not authentic or up to scratch. The Clay Pigeon was in the middle of a housing estate. It was not labelled well on the outside so we went into the pub on the corner and found that we were in the correct place. It was not apparent until we arrived that this was also a bar. If you want a quiet bite then don't come here as the music is loud (but not blaring). The menu was not very extensive but did have a good selection of burgers, sides, and steaks. I tried the pulled pork. I would equate this to a tasty and well-seasoned hog roast. My wife tried one of the burgers. This was stacked high and skewered with a guerkin. An expensive burger, but plenty of it, well seasoned, and cooked to order.

Because it's primarily a bar I will give The Clay Pigeon a rating of 4.5 out of 5 for the evening meal.
